Network setup
Serve station laptops over the school LAN from one host computer.
On the on-site profile, one host computer runs Memoria and the database, and station laptops connect to it over the school network. There's no dependence on cloud access during the event.
Connect station laptops
- Launch Memoria on the host and copy the station URL from the startup dialog.
- Confirm the host firewall allows inbound traffic on port
3010. - Open the station URL from each station laptop's browser.
- Label stations physically to match the station list in the app.
- Keep one supervisor device on the Admin Dashboard for reports and overrides.
The packaged host serves on port 3010. If you're testing from a
development build instead, the dev server defaults to port 3000. Always copy the
station URL from the startup dialog rather than typing it from memory.
If the station URL changes
The host's network address can change between sessions (for example after a reboot or a DHCP lease change). On event day, start the host first and confirm the station URL has not changed. If it has, copy the new URL to the station laptops before staff sign in.
Network tips
- Prefer a dedicated router or hub for the event when the school LAN is busy or restricted.
- Keep the host computer plugged in and set to not sleep during the event.
- Make sure the firewall rule for port
3010persists across reboots. - Do a dry run from at least one station laptop before the event — see Event-day operations.
Device access
Station laptops don't share an admin login. The first time a device opens the station URL it sees a "waiting for access" gate, and an administrator grants it a role and event scope from settings. See Device access for the full approval flow.
